This short documentary explores a hockey league unlike most other leagues. Introducing the Over 30 Hockey League, a family owned league in the heart of Saugus Massachusetts. Run by Bill and Kellie Abcunas, this invite only league gives men and women over the age of thirty a chance to continue their hockey careers in a safer, “street” deck hockey rink. Players, some in their late sixties, come together to participate in their shared passion for competition and community. For over 33 years, Bill has brought people of different backgrounds together through tournament style classic hockey. But what makes this league special is the community, the family, built on competitive spirit, playful banter, and lasting friendships.
